Croft Park is an ideal base to enjoy the scenery and many outdoor activities of East Yorkshire. The rolling Wolds countryside with flower-filled valleys, riverside and woodland can be explored along the 79-mile Wolds Way National Trail. The trail takes walkers and cyclists through picture postcard villages with duck ponds, historic churches and unspoilt pubs.
The coastline is not to be missed either. The dramatic cliffs around Flamborough Head and Spurn Point National Nature Reserve are two of the most famous sights but in between are golden sands and the stylish proms of Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea. In Hull, The Deep takes visitors on a spectacular journey through the world’s oceans a firm favourite with adults and children alike.
Visitors will enjoy the charming and ancient market towns of Howden, Hedon, Pocklington, Driffield and Beverley, appealing not only for its glorious gothic Minster, but also for its lovingly preserved old streets and buildings. York with its world famous Minster, museums and race course is within easy reach too.
Local historic buildings include Burton Agnes and Burton Constable, both outstanding examples of 16th century architecture, Georgian Sledmere House and Sewerby Hall. Meanwhile, Burnby Hall Gardens boasts Europe’s largest water lily collection.
